(N.B. Names used for this synopsis are direct translations of the original chinese names, and so may not be the same as those used in the anime) Adapted from the famous Chinese story 'Shen Diao Xia Lu', the second, and arguably the best part of a trilogy. Condor Hero follows Yang Guo, a orphan found by the great kung fu master Guo Jing. Guo Jing appears to know about Yang Guo's past, but is reluctant to tell him.

Guo Jing takes Yang Guo to the 'Quan Zhen Jiao' school to learn martial arts, but is despised there by some of the senior members of the school. By luck, Yang Guo meets Ou-Yang Feng, a strong martial artist who has lost all memory of his past. He trains Yang Guo to become very strong, but during a martial arts contest in Quan Zhen Jiao, Yang Guo severely injures his opponent accidentally.

Overcome with fear, Yang Guo runs away, but accidentally falls over a cliff where he meets Xiao Long Nu, the current head of the 'Gu Mu Pai' school - direct enemies of Quan Xhen Jiao.

Yang Guo decides to stay with Xiao Long Nu, and learn the kung fu of Gu Mu Pai. Over the years, the two of them eventually fall in love with other, but a series of misunderstandings and Yang Guo's past stop the two from staying together...
