The Cell Games continue in FUNimation's latest Dragonball Z release, The Cell Games: Earth's Last Hope. Goku has been engaged in a brutal battle with Cell, and the winner is anyone's guess at this point. What will happen next? Find out here.
Episode 166 - Faith In A Boy
After a lengthy and excruciating battle with Cell, Goku begins this episode by announcing he's giving up. *GASP!* Even Cell doesn't know what to think and, in anger basically tells Goku "I don't think so!" But Goku tells him he has one more person to fight -- GOHAN! Cell eats a senzu bean (compliments of Goku) and powers up. After some dialog from the others about Goku's apparent insanity and a quick pep talk from father to son, Gohan hits the floor and the fighting begins.
Episode 167 - Gohan's Desperate Plea
The fighting continues between Gohan and Cell. Cell delivers a powerful blow that buries Gohan beneath a huge pile of rocks. Everyone believes Gohan is dead and even Piccolo gives Goku a little grief over sending his young son out there to do a man's job. Goku says he's wrong. "Can't you feel Gohan's energy?" They all pause and, yes... sure enough they can. Gohan explodes from the rocks and tells Cell that he now understands why his father sent him out there and that its to Cell's advantage to walk away. He has a hidden power, and if Cell pushes him too far, he won't be able to stop it. There's a little flashback here of previous battles with Raditz and Freiza as Gohan explains. Cell thinks that's the best news he's heard all day and starts trying to figure out how to push Gohan's buttons.
Episode 168 - Android Explosion
The fighting goes on and Gohan is seemingly getting pummeled. Piccolo finally convinces Goku that Gohan doesn't want to fight, regardless of how strong he may really be. Goku concedes and asks Krillin for a senzu bean, but before he can get them, Cell takes them away and spawns 7 little creepy mini-cells. He tells Gohan that if he won't unleash this "hidden power" from his own pain, maybe the pain of his friends will do the trick. The Cell Jr's head toward the Z-fighters and the episode ends.
The Bottom Line
The Cell Games are my favorite DBZ saga and these episodes are right in the middle of the best part. Lots of action, lots of drama and Gohan looks totally tough. If you're a DBZ fan, this IS the saga to watch. I promise you won't be disappointed. :)
