Events in this special take place right after the HNG series ended. There's going to be a team match between junior pros from Japan, China, and Korea called The North Star Cup. Hikaru and his friends are trying to get on the Japanese team. They have to go through preliminaries but its not going to be that easy since there is a new guy from Kansai Go Institute that supposedly is really good.(anime-source.com)
