The story begins with a young man named Hirosuke Nakaido, who looks back upon his life and his first chance meeting with Ajimu. On that fateful morning Hirosuke was late for the train. Running to make up for the lost time, Hirosuke slid on the ice, nearly falling into a girl waiting in line. During his slow fall, Hirosuke sees nothing but that young girl standing before him, a small case in hand, humming a little tune.
The first thought that crossed Hirosuke's mind was the single word, "Cute." From there on in Hirosuke makes some clumsy attempts to speak to the girl with the ukulele, Ajimu, only to end up with her screaming "Molester." With some determination and the undying support of his good friend, Hirosuke is finally able to explain to Ajimu the misunderstanding between them. Starting from this awkward encounter, Hirosuke and Ajimu develop a growing friendship that later blossoms into love.
